To gain the international standard ISO 14001, you need to identify the significant environmental ‘aspects’ of your organisation.  These are defined as: ‘elements of an organisation’s activities, products or services that can interact with the environment’.

Significance Calculator helps you to pinpoint the most important areas of your organisation's activities in environmental management terms - and work out which should be tackled first when you are setting your objectives and targets for improvement. It features a questionnaire which will

automatically ‘score’ the significance of different elements of your work under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.  Among the many key questions covered is whether that aspect of your operations is affected by legislation and therefore should be regarded as a top priority.
